We’re ready to present to you something beautiful,  unique and something you might want to consider as your own. I always bring to you places to visit, but this time I will bring to you something you can enjoy just for youself.

There are many places you can choose from in SL to live in from renting to buying your own place. Renting is actually something pretty fun to do since you won’t be stuck to one place. I came across “Tzara Estates” . The uniqness of the houses is not something you’ll find anywhere else. These houses are not sold anywhere in SL and the only way you can experience their beauty is to rent them.

Tommy Tzara has done an exquisite job in creating these places. Bringing his real life design experience, he created each house unique with beautiful detail, fully furnished and fully landscaped. All you need to do is just rent it and it’s privately yours for the time you choose to rent.

I invite you to check every single one out. We’ll present to you in the next few weeks each one.  If Tommy is not available to show you the houses himself, feel free to take a self guided tour and see it for yourself.

There are only 4 parcels left.  Each has it’s own unique atmosphere.  When you choose to rent, it’s very easy. HIPPO  RENTAL  BOXES are located at front of each house.

Don’t forget “Exploring is just a TP away!”

Free At Last

Posted by Cyb3rk Bade on October 15th, 2008

Barry Lubezki & Joleelo OlivierI had not been on Second Life for long before I found my place of peace. “Free At Last” is a tranquil land with light music, romance, and vast gardens. It is the perfect place for a casual slow dance, or conversing on a bench while leaves fall or hummingbirds flutter about. There are places to be alone or you are sure to make a friend if you are open to the idea.

The owners and designers, Joleelo Olivier and Barry Lubezki, envisioned a place for romance and sex, for lovers. They started with about 16 vistitors in January of 2007, and now have up to 12.000. With over 3.000 members to this amazing group now. At first they bought a small parcel of land, but after more then a year have found the need to buy a complete sim island. After two months of creating and building they have made a new haven for their members with many new attractions, but preserving the very theme that made them so popular. Some of the new attractions include the Tower of Love, Sauna, Clouds Garden, Sea of Love and Labyrinth of Love, and if you are good at exploring you may find a hidden area or two. There are 7 skyboxes available for the more discreet avatar and several shops too. Let’s see how they make all this … let’s get to know them and see what they will do in the future.

It was August of 2007 when the couple started to see a huge increase to visitors of Free at Last at the old location in Seonbawee. ‘We bought more land and created all sorts of new attractions’, Joleelo says. ‘But the visitors stayed mostly in the old part of the garden, it was difficult to get them farther.’ A teleport system helped to solve that problem, and people started spreading throughout the Free at Last lovegarden, visiting the Tower of Love, the Live Show Sex Theatre and The Secret Cave. Joleelo smiles while Barry says: ‘The only way people could find the secret cave was by accidently falling into it.’ Joleelo Olivier: ‘Yes, I’d sit in in my house and through my window watching them fall in. It was fun…‘. Eventually, the couple realized that many Second Life residents are in search of romance, sex, and love…in that order. Secret bedrooms were made with the best poseballs they could find, knowing that many avatars do not have their own homes. Seven Skyboxes were also included for renting.

By August 2008, Lubezki and Olivier owned close to 2/3 of the Seonbawee Sim. Yet, they still had plans for new projects. There were problems with the Sim. Some of the neighbors had homes which contrasted with the beautiful and romantic theme of Free At Last; there were advertisements hanging about; and there was a problem with lag. So one night, after discussing the situation, they decided to buy an entire island. Two months were spent building and creating the new Sims huge undertaking for the pair. Six weeks was spent on moving every part. It was hard work, but the island has come together nicely. Even Lubezki’s Second Life partner, Romy Otoole, joined in on the fun. She created the Sea of Love, and most of the Cloud Garden, and she also helps run Free at Last Fashion, the garden’s own fashion-shop.

Lubezki and Olivier make a great team. He knows all about the building and maintenance, while she is the designer and creator. ‘Joleelo is the heart of “Free at Last”, it’s her pride and joy’, Barry says. ‘I’m just the handyman.’ Even though there is a small amount of income from the skybox rentals and the shopping, there has never been any profit made. This Sim is their passion, and they will continue to work on it, changing and improving things. Each day is spent with one or both of them exploring the Sim, checking for problems, and looking for things to modify. To these owners, the Sim is never finished. Olivier will spend six, sometimes eight or more, hours a day working on the garden, meeting and talking to customers and visitors.

Free At Last is a peaceful, romantic place; perfect for first dates, couples, or just to relax and meet new people. The sim can hold about 50 avatars at once, and the Free At Last Fan Group has over 3.000 members at the present time. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so patrons from all over the world can stop by, have fun and join the group. Lubezki’s and Olivier’s hard work is appreciated and admired by those who come to visit.

Flintstones Town

Posted by Cyb3rk Bade on October 2nd, 2008

bedrock_014.jpgI have seen a lot of places in SL but never did I imagine that I will stumble in the world of the Flintstones. To my surprise this place looks awesome and Tigey Honey who is the creator of all this, did a wonderful job of bringing every visitor to the “reality” of the town.

As you arrive just so you get familiar with the place you can take the Bedrock tour. You can take it alone or with someone special or just another visitor just like you. You might even make a friend in the process and there is definitely a surprise along the way but I won’t tell you what that is because you have to find out for yourself. I don’t want to spoil the fun! Just a little warning; If you go there make sure you have time because there is a lot of exploring to do. You’ll find many hidden places that have secret entrances and you will have to find those to find what’s hidden in them .

Want to take a fun photo looking like the Flintstones but with your head instead? There is a place for that too, so enjoy it and take with you a memory of what you’ve seen. This is a fun place that you can enjoy alone but I assure you that it’s even more with that special someone or you even take someone on a date there and still have fun. There is the hole in the ground where the dinosours are working, and in there you find a hidden entrance to a room, in the underground. If you go inside the pyramid you find a stargate with a view over the horizon. if you go over the edge and fly you’ll find another hidden entrance to 3 rooms. Here is a hint you have to fly all the way inside or else you will drop down, the floor is only hard when you reach the wall. If you want to sneak a romantic kiss there are kissing balls in the big vulcano.

El camino del Rey (The King’s pathway)

Posted by Cyb3rk Bade on July 22nd, 2008

Caminito del Rey

From Wikipedia

Ground-level viewEl Caminito del Rey (English: The King’s pathway) is a walkway or via ferrata, now fallen into disrepair, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Álora in Málaga, Spain. The name is often shortened to El Camino del Rey. Although the path is in Spain, it is rumoured that people from Asia built the path way for the King.

History

In 1901 it was obvious that the workers of the Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo Falls needed a walkway to cross between the falls, to provide transport of materials, vigilance and maintenance of the channel. Construction of the walkway took four years; it was finished in 1905.

In 1921 the king Alfonso XIII crossed the walkway for the inauguration of the dam Conde del Guadalhorce and it became known by its present name.

Second Life goes to school

Posted by Cyb3rk Bade on July 18th, 2008

An internet fantasy universe teeming with faux worlds devoted to socialising and video games is expanding to include virtual classrooms and universities.

The new trend in online education involves students acting through animated characters, called avatars, mingling in simulated school settings and even rocketing off, via the internet, on quests for knowledge.San Jose State University in the heart of Silicon Valley has built a campus at Second Life, the popular virtual world created by Linden Lab in San Francisco.

The virtual university spans 16 digital acres dotted with school buildings that Library Sciences Department students use for classes and experiments.

“When I teach with Second Life, I think of it as an experience generator,” professor Jeremy Kemp says. “I can send a student in to have an experience in an unstructured environment, and then they come out and have a conversation about it.”

Thirty students signed up for Kemp’s 15-week virtual world class, which included learning about the application that drives the Second Life program.

“I ask them to volunteer on an in-world reference desk, or take a tour of Second Life with snapshots,” he said. “Students can even design a library program with a speaker and invite the public.”

Kemp is trying to simulate real-world experiences by building virtual buildings and audiences so students can learn in realistic, but safe and controlled, settings.

“We’re experimenting with using Second Life to prepare students to face the terror of public speaking,” Kemp says. “That’s very difficult to do in any other way.”

While Kemp’s class simulations are unconventional, industry analysts say … Read the rest of this entry »

Manuela Collas

Posted by X on July 13th, 2008

ps-mc3.pngAfter reading some articles on an italian newspaper, I decided to create my Second Life Avatar on the 24th of february 2007. The metaverse soon bewitched me and I never thought to leave. Hopefully I met people from all aorund the world, who helped me a lot discovering building and many other things you can do there. jg-mc7.png
After some months and a lovestory break down (lol) I discovered a very particular italian sim, Nuova Sicilia, and its owner, Cristos Benelli. As I’m from Sicily too, and as me and Cristos became soon friends, I started feeling that sim as my home and helping him in running the shops, learning something about island management and event organization. In the meanwhile, attracted by the mermaid myth, I joined different mer groups and finally I specialized myself in mermaid outfits and furniture, opening my mall, Mermaid Lake. It changed location before landing in my private island, Al bahr :-), which hosts my mermaid shop and a native american group too.
Today I work as sim and event manager at Roma centro, another italian sim, whose owner is Abal Allen. I’m also specialized in underwater landscaping and low prim ethnic furniture.
But what is Second Life for me? That’s what I put on my profile: “Second Life is what you want to be: a dream, a nightmare, a hidden and different life, an escape from reality. But I’m sure about what it isn’t: a game or just a chat. I choose to be myself, some people say my avatar looks like me. That’s what I want, simple using the metaverse as part of the real Manuela who there can spread her own imagination wings ;-)

IBM and Linden Lab Interoperability Announcement

Posted by Cyb3rk Bade on July 12th, 2008

This is a historic day for Second Life, and for virtual worlds in general. IBM and Linden Lab have announced that research teams from the two companies successfully teleported avatars from the Second Life Preview Grid into a virtual world running on an OpenSim server, marking the first time an avatar has moved from one virtual world to another. It’s an important first step toward enabling avatars to pass freely between virtual worlds, something we’ve been working toward publicly since the formation of the Architecture Working Group in September 2007. These are still early days, however, so amid all the excitement, we thought it would be helpful to clarify exactly what we’ve done — and what still lies ahead.

Q: What did Linden Lab and IBM accomplish with this experiment?
Researchers from IBM and Linden Lab teleported avatars from the Second Life Preview Grid to an OpenSim virtual world.

Q: Why is that significant?
It marks the first time an avatar has moved from one virtual world to another, an event with implications for the entire virtual world industry. As the name suggests, the Open Grid Protocol used in the project enables interoperability between virtual worlds. With this experiment, we’ve taken a Read the rest of this entry »
